H&M Utilizes Recycled Textiles in New Sportswear Line
Popular fast-fashion house H&M has released a capsule collection of activewear composed predominantly of recycled polyester and elastane. “Blending function with sustainable thinking and fashion in this way is the way forward,” Petra Smeds, H&M’s head designer of sportswear, stated in a company-issued press release.
The company has been much ridiculed for the propagation of cheap goods leading to insurmountable global fashion waste. H&M created the “Conscious Collection” in 2012 to affirm its commitment to sustainability and has committed to building a 100% circular textile economy within the company by 2030.
